Hair Straightening Comb?

I was looking through my bathroom closet which pays homage to my hair accessories, tools, styling creams, makeup . . . anything beauty related.

I was surprised to find I still had a straightening comb and oven.  Say what!!!  I could not determine why I would have kept them other than considering straightening my hair to check the length.  Obviously, I have learned I can check my length without heat by using two-twist outs with plaiting.

This weekend my plan is spring clean my bathroom closet COMPLETELY.

Out with my expired makeup to make room for my new makeup.

Out with my old hair tools I used for my relaxed hair.  The only new addition is Paul Mitchell's leave-in conditioner ("The Conditioner") since I'm trying to perfect my wash-n-go and the Kinky Curly Knot Today just is not working well with the Eco Styler Gel.

Have you done your spring cleaning?

Insulin Managment Series - Glucose Correction

I'm so happy to have posted the first video in my insulin management series.  My YouTube channel and blog are about my everyday life, of which diabetes is THE most aspect in managing my life - outside of God of course.  I loves Him :-)

Insulin management is so complex and I believe a lot of people have simplistic views on how diabetics should manage their health.  I've been told all I need to do is eat right, exercise, and take my medicine . . . ok really.  If it was that simple, hundreds of thousands of people would not be struggling to live a full, healthy, happy life with this disease.  Clearly, if you view diabetic management as a simple, one-dimensional entity, you do not have a full understanding of the damage capability of this disease.

I have fought a battle for almost 20 years to prolong my life and I am still learning tools and techniques I can adapt to my lifestyle to beat type 1 diabetes.

No complaints, no pity, no drama from me - my focus is on life and laughing my way to a billion laugh lines.  :-)

'Til next time,

Love and peace, Peace and love,

Goodbye Braid 'n Curl

Well my Braid 'n Curl was great while it lasted, which was six days.  I wonder if I could have stretched it longer since I gave up on day five and wore my hair in a curly pony.  Friday's are my workout day so I try to wear my hair in a style that's easy and simple to manage.  Quite frankly by the end of the week, I don't care how my hair looks as long as it's easy to go from work to the gym.  Lol!

I just edited and uploaded my Braid 'n Curl tutorial which I've attached below.  I really loved my results (so did the hubby) and I will definitely be rockin' this style in the future.

I'm currently wearing a textured bun to test how my hair hold up during workouts.  I can't wait for the weather to improve so I wash-n-go.

Stay blessed and don't forget to laugh,

Your Humbled Servant

Thank you God for leading and guiding me.

Thank you God for showing me love in my time of anxiety,
I was lost, wounded,
felt no one loved me.
You proved me wrong, again.

Thank you God for trusting me with
Your love,
Your time,
Your patience in
hearing my laughter,
comforting my tears and
witnessing my smile.

Thank you God for chastising me,
I know I needed it at the time.

Thank you God for making me strong,
determined, and driven.
I was born with these qualities;
I inherited them from You.

Thank you God for my stubbornness . . .
. . . now let me explain.
Yes, sometimes, I needed to be humbled;
Yet other times, this quality kept me from
compromising my morality.
I learned the common ground through your
teachings and blessings.

Thank you God for being there for me,
true unconditional love.

Thank you God,
for You.

Thank You,
Thank you.

My Braid-n-Curl Results

I mentioned on a previous post that I wanted to wear some different styles since I've been rockin' two-strand twists F-O-R-E-V-E-R.  I still plan on protecting my hair as much as possible to reach my BSL goal this year, but I really miss my hair in different styles.

I decided to try my first Braid-n-Curl and I absolutely love it.  Of course I used zero heat but did step out of my comfort zone on the product I used to achieve my style.  I'm very, very, very . . . did I say VERY, particular about what products I put in my hair since I don't like weighed down, flaky, dry, thirsty, sticky, nor gooey hair.

I used "Lottabody Olive Oil Setting Lotion" to set my curls.  I purchased the product from Sally's when the 32-oz was on sale (you know I love a good deal).  The braid-n-curl was my second usage of this product and I decided to mix 1-part water to 1-part Lottabody.

My first experience with Lottabody was with a week old twist out and I decided to spray the product on my curls to liven them up.  However, my mixture was 4-part water to 1-part Lottabody and my hair became extremely dry and hard.  Later, I realized my hair does not respond well to an oversaturation of water without proper sealing.

So this time, I mixed 1-part each and my hair feels phenomenal.  My curls are super-soft but with hold.  To achieve my braid-n-curl, I braided the hair and left variant lengths of hair out which I curled using perm rollers.  I will be posting a video of how I completed this style and pictures of how my hair progressed throughout the week on my YouTube channel this weekend – perhaps. J

Here are some cute pics of my hair:

If you're curious, here are the ingredients: Water (Aqua) (Eau), Polyquaternium-11, Olea Europea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Peg-40 Lanolin, Polysorbate 20, Parfum (Fragrance), Dmdm Hydantoin, Methylparaben, Ci 47005 (Yellow 10), Ci 42053 (Green 3).

Love and peace, peace and love,

Tangle Teezer Review

My roots are completely detangled for the first time ever with me as the stylist!  It's unbelievable and absolutely possible due to the Tangle Teezer.

Let's get the legal stuff out the way . . . I am in no way paid by this company.  I purchased the Tangle Teezer with my own cash.  Now on with my review J

I love it . . . review done! J

Seriously, this is a miracle worker for extremely curly and coily hair like mine.  The top-middle section of my hair has been extremely difficult to detangle at the roots since I've been natural.  This section is my "4W" hair because I don't know what hair type it is.  This hair may not even be human - Lol!!!!

My hair was freshly shampooed with Giovanni 50:50 clarifying shampoo, then Giovanni Smooth as Silk conditioner was applied to the hair.  The next step consisted of me finger detangling my hair to ensure major tangles were removed.  The final step was using the Tangle Teezer to eliminate the remaining tangles, especially at my roots.

I was very, very impressed with the ease and smoothness of my hair produced by the Tangle Teezer.  My 4W hair was no match for the Tangle Teezer.  My roots were detangled and smooth with no breakage, pain, nor difficulty.  I'm not easily impressed but I was thoroughly impressed and awed with this product.

If you have extremely curly, coily hair like me, invest in the Tangle Teezer.  You can find it at Sally Beauty supply and Amazon.com for $9.99.

Check me out using the Tangle Teezer.

'Til next time,

Love and peace, Peace and love,
