PJA – Product Junkie Anonymous

I need help . . . lately I have been purchasing products that I need.  No really, I truly need them.  Lol!

I have to talk myself down and say "Cam, you don't need that.  Let it go.  Woosaaaaaa!"  As with any PJ, I have triggers that set me off into product land.  My trigger for the last week has been the prospect of wearing wash-n-go's.

Winter is my absolutely favorite season.  I love the snow, the relaxing drives in the snow, and the coziness of the winter when I wrap myself around my hubby (ooh that's a nice picture).  HOWEVER, last spring, summer, and fall I wore my hair in two-strand twists to expedite my hair growth to APL.  Therefore, I have been rockin' two-strand twists for over 18 months.  Say what!

I need a break from the twists especially while working out.  My hair is not withstanding the frequent workouts since I'm hitting the gym anywhere from 4-6 days a week.  I don't like the fuzziness of my twists since I have to really moisturize my hair after the gym since my strands be very dry especially my scalp.

I plan on doing a product review for the items I've recently purchased on YouTube.  I'm also changing my reggie a bit due to the workouts.  I will be twisting my hair every week to ensure my hair is fully moisturized and my scalp is healthy.  I plan on wearing my twists small in the first two front rows and medium throughout.

Love and peace, Peace and love,

Refreshed Twists

I notice since I've been working out, my twists look more worn and tired faster.  My scalp also tends to get dry sooner due to the sweating.  To ensure my protective style last longer without manipulation, I have been rinsing my scalp and adding moisture to my hair with water.

Last night I refreshed my twists with the water and gently massaged my scalp with the running water.  My scalp felt great and was clean, my hair was very, very moisturized, and my twist looked amazing.  I added my leave-in conditioner concoction, re-twisted the perimeter twists with my Shea mixture, and voila my twists look brand new.

Here is how I wore my hair today (my hair withstood the workday lol).  I grabbed the twists and pinned them with a clip.  I wanted a free-flowing look to my hair and really liked the outcome.

'Til next time,

Professional Styles

Natural hair is beautiful and can be displayed at all occasions. I've worn my hair in two strand twists for the last 18 months and have worn my hair in updo's, side sweeps, bunned, and down.  All these variations of my twists are what make this style so amazing and professional.   Here is are two cute updos I wore to work:

In this style, I made 2 braids: one on the left and one on the right.  With the middle hair, I rolled the hair upward into a bun.  I then took the left braid and wrapped it around the top portion of the bun to the right.  I took the right braid and wrapped it around the bottom portion of the bun to the left.  I used decorative bobby pins to add a little bling, bling.  :-)  You can also wear a headband to this style.

This is another quick, easy, and neat updo where I put my 2-strand twists in a ponytail using an elasta band and pinned the the hair with decorative pearl hair pins.

These are very neat, professional styles which allow me to protect my hair and continue my hair growth journey.

'Til next time,

Chunky Twist-out

Well the weather outside is frightful . . . but my hair looks so delightful. J

It took me 2.5 hours to get to work today but I walked in with my curls poppin!  I absolutely love two strand twists.  They have been one of the most important elements in retaining my moisture balance and length.

I was fighting the flu bug for approximately 5 days which threw my twist cycle completely off.  Yesterday, hallelujah, I was finally able to wash my hair and decided to do chunky twists since I'm in the middle of a work week.  I absolutely love them and plan to stretch them tonight so I can see my length.

'Til next time,

Love and peace, Peace and Love,
