Veggies Please

Today I finally went grocery shopping, without a list.  Normally, I'm prepared but I've been a little distracted lately (reference my last post).  :-)

I knew the items we were lacking but I was shocked when I checked out and approximately 50% of my items were veggies and fruits.  Despite popular opinion, lol, I am not a vegetarian. :-)  I eat meat just not as frequently as some people.  I prefer meat every other day but I do consume protein in the form of cottage cheese and beans on a daily basis.

Earlier this year I learned you should shop the perimeter of the store and never down the aisles.  The reasoning to this theory is items in the aisles contain salt and preservatives and are usually high in sugar, fat, and sodium.  If you shop the perimeter of the store, you'll hit the fruit, veggie, meat, and dairy sections which your body metabolic system recognizes and can process naturally.

I know I love my veggies and fruits but I was still shocked but very proud of my unplanned purchases :-).  What veggies and fruits did I purchase . . . short list version:
      • Clementines
      • Grapes
      • Bell peppers
      • Baby carrots
      • Corn
      • Cucumbers
      • Cabbage
      • Greens
      • Onions
      • Potatoes
      • Celery
      • Tomatoes
      • Bananas
      • Apples
      • Green Beans
      • Peppers
You may think I bought too many fruits but, my Bumblebee (daughter) and I will eat them within 7-10 days.  Now if I can get my hubby to consume fruit consistently. . . wishful thinking.

As always,

Love and Peace, Peace and Love,

It's the God in me :-)

Today was one of those days trying my faith versus drama.  I let my will and faith in God prevail but with much love and support from my hubby, girlfriends (aka sisters from another mother) and my Auntie Jody (how you doing).

This is short and simple because all I can say is "it's the God in me" that kept me strong, unfazed by negativity and uplifted in strength and positivity that I didn't skip a beat.  Ok, maybe a small beat but I'm human.  Lol.  I was smiling when I got in my car because I had closure from years of being surrounded by "that" negativity.

I'm free and loving it.  I want to say thank you for the best gift of the year.

Did I mention . . . it's the God in me, it's the God in me :-)  Come on and dance with me . . . it's the God in me.  Lol.

As always (especially today),

Love and Peace, Peace and Love,

Ooh ooh ooh, I'm feeling good :-)

It's funny how people question your mood if you're feeling that extra, extra goodness.  You ever feel that way?
As if the ground you walk on ceases to be concrete
but reinvents itself just for your touch
That one step of your weight is enough
to suffice its very existence,
define its sole purpose to supporting your steps,
your walk to
nowhere but you. . .

Yep, that's how I feel today.  I feel like my touch is boundless and haven't the faintest idea as to why.  Lol!

There are many times in my life where I feel I have a connection to something, I just don't know what "it" is.  It's more than a connectiveness to the earth or to God.  In these moments I feel like I'm me; more than flesh and bone but the true essence of who I really am.
I explore how the air feels in my lungs;
How the wind sounds to my ears;
How my bones reverberate with the ground
Every step, every breath creating new sensations of pleasure and
I'm intrigued, captivated with
me

If I were at a poetry convention, this is when I would hear the poetic snap of fingers J  Yeah . . . you're feeling me now J.

As always,

Love and peace, Peace and Love,

Why must thee loathe my curls, oh winter?

Maybe it's just me but this winter season seem exceptionally cruel to my hair and it's not officially winter yet.  What the freak!  I admit . . . it took me a moment to realize why my hair was getting dry especially around my nape.  Even my twists were fighting to stay moisturized and have that 'full' look to them.  Po babies :-(.

Then one day I left the house to get something from my car.  A quick trip to the car, I came back in the house, happen to touch my hair and my twists felt frozen.  Say what!  I said my twists were frozen!  Lightly frozen, but still frozen, cold, lost, alone . . . ok so it wasn't that deep but they were cold.  No more!  Lol.

Wake up call answered and understood, I changed my winter (cold) reggie and haven't had a problem since.  The main things I changed to my normal reggie were:

Moisturized my hair every day, which of course meant I needed to seal.  I normally seal with coconut oil but for the winter I'll seal with avocado or olive oil since I'll be sealing daily and prefer a lighter oil so my hair will not get weighed down
-   Adopted baggying!  Ooh, baggying is fuuuuuuunnnnnn!  Lol.  I baggy every other day and mainly just the ends.  Although I will baggy my entire head if I want a moisture boost.
-   Super protect my ends.  I ensure my ends are nice and cozy under my twist.  Nice and snuggly :-)

Well that's my winter reggie.  Have you have updated yours?   Protect you and your hair this winter.  Bring on the snow!

Twist-Out Pony

I twisted my hair out on Thursday, December 2, 2010 and of course my hair was twisted back in on Sunday, December 5, 2010.  Unfortunately, I was a little under the weather and was not able to post my twist-out pics especially since my hair is rarely seen in all its glory.  Lol.

However, I have a pic of my second day twist out look and my hair was luscious!  You ladies know what I mean when you KNOW your hair is poppin' and rockin' and people are looking at your curls and envying them . . . yep that was the day I was living.

Nothing spectacular about this post, other than sharing my gorgeous hair day with you all.  J

As always,

Love and Peace, Peace and Love
